Exclusions from School

Students with the following conditions shall be excluded from school but are not limited to:

  • Communicable disease
  • Diarrhea (i.e. two or more loose stools per day for two days)
  • Vomiting
  • Red eyes with purulent discharge
  • Skin lesions (i.e. impetigo, ringworm and scabies) until under treatment
  • Temperature of 100 degrees F or higher

Other reasons to exclude a student from school could include but are not limited to:

  • Drainage from ear(s)
  • Fainting, seizure, or general signs of listlessness
  • Elevated (or possibly a normal) temperature combined with any of the following:
    • a severe cold with yellow-green nasal discharge, excessive coughing or sneezing, swollen glands, excessive nasal discharge or skin rash.
  • Head lice (must be lice-free with continued progress toward removing nits to come back to school)
  • Skin lesions (i.e. impetigo, ringworm and scabies) until under treatment
  • Communicable disease

Return to school information:

  1.  Students will be re-admitted after being fever-free for 24 hours without fever reducing medications.
  2.  Students with vomiting/diarrhea must be symptom free for 24 hours without medications before retuning to school.
  3.  Students with some conditions may return to school after being treated for 24 hours with an antibiotic.
